3-D Printer on Display!

We are very excited to have a 3-D printer on display at the library!  The MakerBot Replicator 2 is on loan to us from the Suffolk Cooperative Library System until April 16th.  It builds three-dimensional objects using a plastic filament that is heated and extruded through a nozzle.  Files used to create the objects can be downloaded from open-source websites, created by scanning an object using the Digitizer or through design programs.  All files are saved to an SD card that is inserted into the printer.

Stop by the library to see the 3-D printer in action or check out the video clip below!
